The start of this once in a lifetime journey begins in the heart of downtown Vancouver, steps away from the Pacific ocean. We will begin running through the luxurious Coal Harbour neighbourhood, leading into world renowned Stanley Park. This section of the run includes the rugged beauty of the BC coastline, as well as the beautiful skyline of downtown Vancouver. We then head up to Prospect Point to take in some of the most picturesque views of the North Shore mountains. We will then have lunch on Granville Island and a chance to explore this unique marketplace. After a full day of running, we will enjoy an authentic West Coast cuisine in Vancouver’s oldest district – Gastown.
The second day we will start by driving from downtown Vancouver across Lions Gate bridge, heading towards the mountainous North Shore. We will head up Grouse mountain for a spectacular panoramic view of the city, followed by a technical descent towards Lynn Valley where complimentary snacks will be enjoyed next to the pristine headwaters. We will continue heading East through North Shore’s old growth forest towards Deep Cove’s Quarry Rock, a popular weekend destination for many locals. Runners will enjoy a well deserved beer, lunch and stunning views in this quaint harbour before being picked up and brought to a surprise location. This night’s dinner and sunset will be enjoyed right on the waterfront.
After a scenic drive to the world renowned city of Whistler, we will start today’s run near Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. Whistler Blackcomb is the largest ski resort in North America, and hosted many events of the 2010 winter olympics. Runners will start today’s adventure alongside the Cheakamus river, which leads to a pristine lake. After traversing several mountainous trails, the group will head to Whistler Village. Whistler village is home to world class restaurants, bars, and spas; the perfect way to unwind after a long day’s run!
Today’s run/hike requires approximately 20km of trekking, with over 800m of elevation. Garibaldi Lake, located within Garibaldi Provincial Park, is our final destination of the day. Runners will have multiple opportunities to capture the iridescent beauty of the turquoise coloured lake, while enjoying a delicious picnic lunch provided at the top. In addition to the alpine lakes, the park also features a vast number of flowery meadows, glaciers, waterfalls, and forests.
